Log Number:12R018PI:Stanley Herwitz
Funding Source:Bruce Tagg - NASA - SMD - ESD Airborne Science Program
Purpose of Flight:Check
Comments:The prop drive belt was replaced after the last flight so a check flight was conducted in the local pattern of Rwy 7 to confirm proper operation and tension. The spare NASA transponder loaned to the Bat-4 UAS was installed and performed normally, reporting the squawk code and altitude to KW ATC. The people at Key West NAS have been very good to us. We now have the GCS set up in an office upstairs with our command and control antennas on top of their hangar. Their spectrum managenment office kindly loaned us 5 trunking radios which provide ideal communication quality to all of our remote observers. The team cannot say enough about the level of support we have received here. The aircraft performed multiple climbs to 2500' MSL and after 30 minutes the bird was landed to inspect the belt with no adjustments required.
