Comments:The chase plane (C172SP) landed at Cedarville Airport while the team completed flight preparations. SIERRA took off first and entered its orbit near the runway. Then the manned aircraft took off and climbed to a higher altitude to be in position for chase. A detailed grid pattern just south of the airport was completed followed by a grid pattern in the central part of the valley. Chase was generally able to keep the SIERRA in sight with some difficulties due to the very different performance characteristics of the aircraft. Chase then returned to their staging airport (Alturas) and the compensation box was flown with a ground observer performing the see and avoid task. The aircraft landed normally and was serviced for the next flight tomorrow.
