Mission Summary:

F13 Southwest Coastal 03

Accomplishments

  • Low-altitude survey (1,500 ft AGL) over the southwest coastal regions.
  • ATM, snow and Ku-band radars, and DMS were operated on the survey lines.
  • Ramp pass at Kangerlussuaq Airport at 1,500 ft AGL for ATM and radar calibration.
  • Conducted pitch and roll maneuvers over the fjord for snow and Ku-band radar calibration.
  • Satellite Tracks: none.
  • Repeat Mission: none.

Mission Report (Michael Studinger, Mission Scientist)

This is a new mission, one of a set of four which mirrors the coast-parallel coverage of the 2010-2011 Southeast Coastal missions in the southwest. This particular mission interlaces the ~20 km grid established with Southwest Coastal 01 to a combined spacing of ~10 km.

The weather along the entire survey line was good with moderate turbulence over the lines near the coast. Data collection started 10:53 UTC and ended at 17:32 UTC. We collected 6.6 hours of science data.
