F12 Jakobshavn-Eqip-Store

Accomplishments

  • Low-altitude survey (1,000 ft AGL) over the Jakobshavn, Eqip and Store Glacier regions.
  • ATM, snow and Ku-band radars, and DMS were operated on the survey lines.
  • Ramp pass at Kangerlussuaq Airport at 1,500 ft AGL for ATM and radar calibration.
  • Conducted pitch and roll maneuvers over the fjord for snow and Ku-band radar calibration.
  • Satellite Tracks: ICESat: 0085, 1320, 1282, 0166, 0189, 0032, 0151, 1305.
  • Repeat Mission: 2011, 2012.

Mission Report (Michael Studinger, Mission Scientist)

 
This mission is a modified version of the 2011 Jakobshavn-Lake mission, whose main purpose was to extend the ICESat grid begun with the Jakobshavn 01 mission farther upstream. We also densify the ICESat grid over the Eqip Sermia catchment area north of Jakobshavn Glacier, and we refly the centerlines of Eqip Sermia, Kangilerngata Sermia, Sermeq Kujalleq and Store Glaciers.

The weather along the entire survey line was good with moderate turbulence over the lines near the coast and the slope of the ice sheet. Data collection started 10:50 UTC and ended at 18:07 UTC. We collected 7.2 hours of science data.
