F10 Jakobshavn 01

Accomplishments

  • Low-altitude survey (1,500 ft AGL) over Jakobshavn Glacier.
  • ATM, snow and Ku-band radars, and DMS were operated on the survey lines.
  • Ramp pass at Kangerlussuaq at 2,000 ft AGL for ATM and radar calibration.
  • Conducted pitch and roll maneuvers over the fjord for snow and Ku-band radar calibration.
  • Satellite Tracks: ICESat: 0323, 0300, 0047, 0285, 0070, 0204.
  • Repeat Mission: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Mission Report (Michael Studinger, Mission Scientist)

 
This is a repeat of 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 IceBridge missions. Its purpose is to re-survey the highest-priority lines of the historical ATM 10-km Jakobshavn grid, the main flowline of Jakobshavn. It also extends that grid with a broader array of ICESat ground tracks over the larger Jakobshavn basin.

The weather along the entire survey line was good with some strong turbulence over the main channel of Jakobshavn Glacier. Data collection started 11:02 UTC and ended at 18:52 UTC. We collected 7.7 hours of science data.
