Purpose of Flight:Science
Comments:Purpose of Flight CO2 & O2 LIDAR Development Flights – OCO Satellite Overflight and Ocean Aircraft Status Airworthy Sensor Status MFLL, CO2/O2 Sounder, LAS, AVOCET, Piccaro all operated. ARMAS flew as piggyback instrument under FR148006. Significant Issues None Accomplishments Takeoff at 234 19 30 Land at 235 03 30 Fly south to north track over Nevada to allow overflight of OCO satellite while at FL190; repeat track at FL340. Descending spiral along satellite track from FL340 to ~1000 ft agl. Transit to Edwards TCCON site at FL340 and perform descending spiral to ~ 1000 ft agl. Fly east to west calibration track at FL180 north of KPMD. Transit to offshore Southern California at FL340 to operate LIDAR instruments against ocean background. Accomplish descending spiral from FL340 to ~1000ft agl over ocean track and then accomplish track over ocean at FL160 and FL250. Return to land KPMD. Planned events Fly West Branch Iowa mission on 8/25.
