A narrow aerosol layer, with a sharp increase in concentration at all aerosol sizes measured, was observed at 15 km. Lidar measurements in Boulder a few days later detected the same layer. It is expected to be from a small high latitude volcanic eruption. This file contains size distributions fit to the aerosol data. Only measurements above the tropopause are fit with size distributions The column labeled Err is the sum of the square of the log of the ratio (Nc/Nm), where Nc(r) is the concentration calculated from the size distribution fit to the data, and Nm(r) is the measured concentration. The sum is over all measured sizes, r. In general fits with Err > 3.5 are not included. If a time is missing then a fit with Err < 3.5 could not be found so no fit is reported at that time. Unimodal lognormal fits replace the bimodal fits if they provide a better match to the measurements, i.e. provide a smaller Err. In that case the values of the fit parameters in the second mode are set to 1.01E-39. The aerosol sizes measured are slightly dependent on particle index of refraction. For these size distributions an index of refraction of 1.45 is used. Variations in size by up to 8% can occur for particles with indices of refraction in the range of 1.3 to 1.5.
